Returning Family Forms
Families currently enrolled at St. Michael-St. Gabriel the Archangel have priority in registering for school. These families need to complete the following forms below to be registered:
1. SMSG Re-Registration Form (English or Spanish)
2. Parishioner Verification Form (English or Spanish)
3. Choice Scholarship Program Guidelines
4. Contact and Emergency Information/ Medication Administration (English or Spanish)
5. Home Language Survey (English or Spanish)

New Student Enrollment and Forms
Our school considers a student’s registration as a contract among parents, students, and faculty that the rules and policies of the school will be observed. Attending St. Michael- St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Elementary School is a privilege, not a right. There is a $200 non-refundable registration fee due at the time of registration. Preschool 
Children who are three-years-old by August 1st and potty trained are eligible to enter preschool at St. Michael- St. Gabriel. A birth certificate and shot records are to be shown at the time of registration.   Pre-Kindergarten Children who are four-years-old by August 1st and potty trained are eligible to enter Pre-Kindergarten at St. Michael- St. Gabriel. A birth certificate and shot records are to be shown at the time of registration.

Kindergarten
Children five-years-old by August 1st are eligible for Kindergarten. If the child did not attend St. Michael-St. Gabriel for Pre-Kindergarten, he/she will be given an assessment to determine his/her readiness for Kindergarten. We will administer this test at St. Michael- St. Gabriel prior to determining if the child is ready for Kindergarten or if the child would benefit by going through our Pre-Kindergarten program. All new students entering Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, or First Grade at St. Michael-St. Gabriel needs to have a birth certificate and all vaccination records at the time of registration.    

First Grade

Important Dates

  • January 2022 – Open enrollment for current families begins. Registration will not be completed until the registration fee is paid and all registration and financial forms are completed and turned into the office.

  • February 24, 2022 – This is our 2022-2023 Open House, and open enrollment for new families begins. The school will not start accepting new students until March 1, 2022.

  • February 2022 –Financial aid applications will be available online at online.factsmgt.com/SignIn. A $35.00 application fee is due at the time of submission.

  • May 15, 2022 –DEADLINE for financial aid applications.

  • March, April, & May 2022 – Appointments for Voucher Applications are available.  Please call Misty Areal at 317-926-0516x 423 to schedule an appointment.

  • July 1, 2022 – Tuition Statements will be mailed. (Due to COVID-19, tuition statements may be postponed.)

  • July 31, 2022 – The first tuition payment is due for those families who have chosen either a one or two pay installment plan.  Discounts are available for this option.

  • August 20, 2022 – First tuition payment is due for those on a ten-month payment plan for both automatic withdrawal and direct pay payments.

Scholarship Opportunities

The Cardinal Joseph Ritter Scholar Award

Awarded to students with a composite score in the 98th or 99th percentile on the Cardinal Ritter Placement Exam. The $4,000 award is divided equally over four years at Cardinal Ritter High School. This award is automatically awarded to students who qualify and apply. Applications are due to Mrs. Ramos by Friday, May 8th. Click here for the application.

Carmen de Barros Scholarship

Sister Carmen de Barros was born in Havana, Cuba. When she was 17, she was awarded a scholarship as an exchange student to attend Marian University in Indianapolis. After she graduated, instead of returning to Cuba she felt called to the religious life as a Sister of St. Francis, Oldenburg. Education is a priority for the Sisters of St. Francis. Therefore, in honor of Sr. Carmen, they have set up this scholarship fund to aid Hispanic Students. The $750 award can be renewed each year for four years.

Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, in accordance with our mission to advance and assist with Catholic education, is once again offering two $1000.00 scholarships ($500.00/semester) for the 2021-2022 school year: one to Cardinal Ritter High School and one to Scecina Memorial High School.  It is open to all 8th grade students planning to attend either school.  The student is required to write an essay, limited to 300 words, reflecting on their thoughts about the Value of a Catholic Education.  The essay will be evaluated by L.A.O.H. members on the following criteria: Comprehension, Organization/Grammar, and Creativity.

In addition to the essay, a complete entry will include the students’ information form, along with his/her most recent report card.  Scholarship entries should be mailed to Ruth Winters, 4211 Tarragon Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46237 or submitted via email to rannwinters@gmail.com.  Entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, April 7th or received via email on that date to be considered.  Entries submitted via email must combine all application components into a single PDF.  Questions may be directed to Ruth at rannwinters@gmail.com or 317-445-4612. 

School Choice

St. Michael-St. Gabriel is participating in Indiana’s new voucher program (authorized under IC 20-51-1 and IC 20-51-4).  As described on the Indiana Department of Education’s School Choice website: “A voucher, or ‘Choice Scholarship,’ is a state payment that qualifying families can use to offset tuition costs at participating schools. Students qualify based on total household income and the amount of the scholarship corresponds with the public school corporation in which the student lives.” 

Who qualifies for an Indiana School Choice Scholarship (Voucher)?

  • Students who received a Choice Scholarship in the past, or

  • Students who attended public schools for the last 2 semesters, or

  • Students who have previously received an SGO award, or

  • Students who are assigned to a “F” rated school, and

  • Who are at or below the annual household income limits listed below:
    (new income guidelines are released every year.)

How do I apply for an Indiana School Choice Scholarship (voucher) for my student?

  • Students must first be enrolled in a private school for the upcoming school year before applying for the voucher

  • Contact Misty Areal in the Tuition Office to make an appointment. She will verify household income, complete and submit an application to the Indiana Department of Education

  • Documents to bring to complete the application process:
    1. A copy of your current year’s federal income tax return
    2. Copies of all current year’s wage documents including W2’s, 1099’s, social security statements, unemployment statements, interest earnings statements, investment earnings statements, pension or annuity statements, etc.
    3. Copies of child support agreements and any federal or state assistance programs documentation

Additional Parent Information

  • The Indiana School Choice Scholarship (voucher) awarded amount is based on household size and income.

  • Each school district in Indiana has a capped amount allotted per student.

  • If the voucher does not cover the full amount of tuition, the family will be responsible for paying the amount not covered.

  • There is additional financial aid assistance available to families who qualify.  You must complete an online FACTS financial aid application.  There is a $30.00 application fee at the time of submission.

  • Students who qualify for a voucher must apply for a Free or Reduced Lunch.

Vouchers
Click here to see if your student qualifies for the Indiana Choice Vouchers. To apply for the voucher, you must schedule an appointment with Misty Areal and apply in person. Please bring your current Federal Income Taxes, W-2s, and any other forms of income with you to the appointment. 

On My Way Pre-K Grant
The state of Indiana awards On My Way Pre-K grants to Pre-K students who are eligible, The
On My Way Pre-K grant helps families have access to a high-quality Pre-K program the year
before they begin Kindergarten. Families who receive a grant may use the grant at any
approved On My Way Pre-K program. Pre-K families are encouraged to check to see if they
qualify for the grant at http://in.gov/fssa/carefinder/4932.htm.
